Description

This course enables you to develop the theoretical, practical and interpersonal skills needed to deliver a safe, respectful and beneficial massage.

It is essential for the student to take into account the physical, psychological and emotional particularities of the individual.

Anne Compagnon, certified massage therapist, accompanies you throughout your training.

It is recommended that you have already completed a course in Massages or are enrolled in one.

It is also recommended to have basic knowledge in anatomy and physiology.

Oncology massage

Content

The basics of oncology: Understanding cancer, its causes and treatments, as well as the side effects and complications of the disease and its treatment.

Massage adaptations: to know the indications, contraindications, precautions and modifications to be made to the massage according to the type, stage and treatment of the cancer, as well as the person's general condition.

Massage techniques/practice: to adapt your massage techniques to people affected by cancer. Know which techniques not to use.

The helping relationship: to develop your communication skills to establish a relationship of trust, listening and empathy with the person affected by cancer, taking into account their needs, expectations, emotions and limits.

Professional practice: knowledge of the ethical and deontological aspects of practice, as well as how to collaborate with other healthcare professionals.

Format

Oncology massage training takes place over 4 days and can take a variety of forms.

  I’ve been massaged by Anne multiple times in the past year! I have a wrong standing position that provoked some problems in my spine and most recently I discovered I have a form of arthritis, both these problems provoked pain and uneasiness in my daily life. When I met Anne she didn’t just address the painful areas but we worked together to find the cause of  my pains. Anne’s massage therapy’s sessions don’t end by the time you get out of her studio, as she always gives you some exercises or some tips to take home with you. She is very kind and professional.
